Andrea England on GRAMMY BALLOT!October 27, 2005 Andrea England Makes Grammy Ballot Nova Scotia singer/songwriter Andrea England has been placed on the Official Ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards in six categories! The ballot, which is determined by The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Committee, is the first step towards a nomination on the award show. Andrea has been placed on the ballot for Record of the Year (for the song "Shut Down"), Album of the Year (for her album Lemonade), Song of the Year (for her song "Sometimes"), Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for the songs "Shut Down" and "Life") and Best Pop Vocal Album (for Lemonade). "Sometimes," the current single from Andrea's debut album, Lemonade, hit #1 on the East Coast Countdown only three weeks since the song was released! "Sometimes," is a mid-tempo song with a message about following your dreams, reminding listeners that "Sometimes you gotta think with your heart." The song, which is featured on a recently released Dawson's Creek DVD, has sparked massive interest. Andrea's debut full-length album, Lemonade, is available now through Maplenationwide/Universal Music Canada. The album was co-produced by BMG producer writer and Northern Pikes singer, Bryan Potvin and Andrea. Creighton Doan and Brett Rosenberg also stepped in to produce additional tracks and producer Brian Allen has re-mixed "Sometimes" for radio play. Originally from Sand Point, NS, Andrea now lives in Toronto, where she has garnered a reputation as one of Canada's best up-and-coming singer-songwriters. She won a prize in the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest, was a double finalist in this year's USA Songwriting Contest and has showcased at the ECMAs, CMW, NXNE and the CCMAs. Her music has also been heard on the CBS hit Show Joan of Arcadia, ABC's Beautiful People, and her CD featured on Canada's late night TV. Having opened for or performed with some of Canada's top artists over the last few years, including Gordie Sampson, Martha Wainwright, Ashley MacIssac and Tara MacLean to name a few, England has earned her reputation as a passionate performer. She is quickly establishing herself as one to watch! For more information or to hear sample tracks: http://www.myspace.com/andreaengland |
