The contest drew more than 25,000 entries. Her song, Lemonade, was co-written with guitarist Dave Milliken and produced by Creighton Doane just over a year ago, and was originally debuted at the East Coast Music Awards songwriter showcase last year. "I'm so thrilled by this," said the Halifax-born singer. "There were six runners-up in the pop category, and it was neat that another Canadian, Charlie Shock of Abbotsford B.C. was also picked as a runner-up." Andrea's song includes an oblique reference to Lennon:
"So I went out and made my own (record)
"Some of you will like it, and some of you won't "To tell you the truth it don't matter to me "Like the man said, you've got to learn to let it be The winner of the pop category was Amy Fairchild, a New England based folk singer and a previous winner of song contests at the Kerrville Festival in Texas and by Lilith Fair. The contest was established in 1997 with the co-operation and support of Yoko Ono. Lemonade will be the title of Andrea's first full-length album, now in the final recording and mixing stages. She hopes that the album, co-produced by Northern Pikes singer/guitarist Bryan Potvin, will be released in Spring, and she is meeting with several record companies.
