Lemonade Being Served at ECMA Songwriters CircleHalifax, NS: Nova Scotia born, Toronto based Andrea England will be serving up some "Lemonade" at the ECMA Songwriters Circle in Saint John, NB. This is not the lemonade that you drink, but the first single from her greatly anticipated full length CD projected to be poured out to retail in the summer of 2002. Shortly after releasing her debut single, "Eyes Wide Shut," a song which received airplay throughout Nova Scotia and Ontario, Andrea returned to Nova Scotia in 1999 to recuperate after a motor vehicle accident in Ottawa. During her recuperation, she set out to make contacts with as many music industry professionals as possible. She attended many conferences, which lead her to a Date with a Tape at the 1999 ECMA conference in Sydney. There she met and later became friends with Canada's Dan Hill, a multi-platinum artist who has written songs for Celine Dion and 'N SYNC. Hill gave Andrea the encouragement that she needed to keep writing and performing. Upon her return to Ottawa, Andrea immediately got back on track and actively began performing more live shows, accompanied by guitarist Dave Milliken and percussionist Jonny O. She began to secure opening slots for such diverse acts as jacksoul, Damhnait Doyle, Tara MacLean, J. Englishman, Ashley MacIssac, KILT and Sue Medley, to name a few. Throughout the summer and fall of 2001, England has been hard at work with producer Creighton Doane. Andrea knew from the moment she met Creighton that they had connected. The first day they wrote the music for a lyric Andrea had been working on, a song now titled Shut Down, and this lead her back to the studio to do "Lemonade". And there is another twist to this story. Andrea has hooked up with Mike's Hard Lemonade as her official sponsor for the Songwriters Circle. "Mike and I have the same philosophy," says England. "When life gives you lemons, what else can you do but make "Lemonade." The Songwriters Circle is taking place on February 3 at the 2002 ECMA conference in Saint John, NB. Come and enjoy the effervesant zest of Andrea England. -30- Media contact: |
